Motion: Bob Anderson made a
motion to amend the By-laws to allow the chairs of the Classic to be
able to sign the checks for the Classic account.
Dave Raahahn said if he was president he would have to rule the
motion out of order. At the
June 1st Board meeting the Executive board will review and
discuss the proposed by-law changes. The
Board will review and tweak as necessary.
Roger will read the by- law amendments to the membership, more
tweaks and then vote will occur to pass or not the proposed changes.
Jeff Bowden asked how we got to these changes occurring.
Dave explained and pointed out
who was on the committee.
Secretary
read the motion which was made at the May 4th Board meeting
by Board member’s calling for Alan Cohen’s
expulsion from the club due to
his aggressive and offensive behavior towards three board members this
past year that is not in the best interest or representation of RCC.
Several noted repeated similar offenses witnessed by many members
during past years were also called out indicating a pattern of repeated
aggressive behavior. It was
stated that the majority of the board was saddened by this motion,
however, the fact that Alan has not made any effort of apologizing or
remorse, it was felt that by doing nothing as a club we were condoning
these actions. In addition, the Board is attempting to conduct our
duties according to the By-laws in the best interest of the club and its
entire members not just one member.
It is about business not personal, therefore the recommendation.
Alan
Cohen had a chance for rebuttal and stated that what Anna stated there
was some truth to it but it was embellished and to take it with a grain
of salt.
Jeff Bowden made a motion to table it.
No one second it.
President
read the rules for the discussion.
People could speak for the motion or against it, however, they
had to be put on the list and they got 2 minutes each to discuss.
Alternate statements were
represented for and against the motion until all who wanted to speak had
the opportunity to do so. Roger reminded folks that no yelling or
profanity would be allowed and Dave Raahahn timed the speakers.
John Moist called for the question and it was seconded, Motion was
passed and debate ended.
The motion to remove Alan
from the club was voted on. Roger assigned the Parfitt’s to be in charge
of the vote by secret ballot. For
the motion to expel him was 23 for expulsion and 37 against the
expulsion. Motion defeated.
